Overview
DSB MZ 1412 is an iconic Danish diesel-electric locomotive and part of the well-known MZ family. It belongs to the second series of MZ locomotives, built by the Swedish company NOHAB under licence from General Motors (EMD).
For many decades, the MZ class formed the backbone of DSB’s heavy freight and passenger services. The locomotives are known for their considerable power and reliability.

- 1 Aug 1968: Delivered.
- 1968–70: In the Eastern Region.
- 1970: Transferred to the Western Region and returned.
- 1970–73: In the Eastern Region.
- 22 Nov 1973: Transferred to the Western Region.
- 1973–82: In the Western Region.
- 1984: Repainted in the design livery.
- 1983–91: In the Western Region.
- 1992: Fitted with ATC.
- 1992: Cab windows blanked off.
- 1993–96: In the Western Region.
- 1996: New windows installed.
- 27 Feb 1998: Damaged in a shunting accident in Kolding.
- 1998: Stored in Vejle.
- 1998: Withdrawn from service.
- 12 Nov 1998: Transferred to Aarhus.
- 1999: Moved from Aarhus to Gb.
- 1999–May 2005: Stored at Gb.
- 2003: Sold to STT as MZ 1402.
- 4 Aug 2005: Left Denmark via the bridge.
Over the years, the MZ locomotives have achieved cult status among railway enthusiasts and model railway collectors. MZ 1414 remains a popular subject because of its long and important role in Danish railway history.
