Minitrix 21027
Train set with electric locomotive, series Re 4/4 IV, red/silver, and 3 express train carriages, type EW IV, each 4-axle, green/grey.
History:
As part of the SBB’s ambitious Rail 2000 project, four sleek, lightweight electric locomotives—designated Re 4/4 IV—were developed by BBC and SLM in the early 1980s. Built for speeds up to 160 km/h, these prototypes showcased new technology and bold liveries, each painted differently for testing and promotional purposes.
By 1986, they were unified in a striking traffic red design with Bahn 2000 branding. In 1994, the locomotives joined the Südostbahn (SOB) fleet as Re 446 and continued to turn heads as rolling advertisements. When SOB introduced the modern Stadler Flirt in 2019, all four locomotives found a new home with EDG.
