Built by Nydqvist & Holm AB - Bofors-Nohab AB, Trollhättan, Sweden, in 1956 (Build no. 2326).
Overview
The MY1119 locomotive was part of the NOHAB series, produced under license from EMD starting in 1949. These locomotives were modeled after the Australian B Class but adapted to European standards with a narrower clearance gauge and UIC-compliant features.
NOHAB locomotives served state railways in Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Hungary. Many remain active on private railways across Europe, including in Germany, Sweden, and Kosovo.
Operation & history
- Arrived in Helsingør on 23 August 1956
- Assigned to Eastern Region (Øst) 1956–1986
- Fitted with under-slung snowplows in 1979
- Equipped with ITC safety system 1974–1986
- Received the red/black design livery in 1985
- Transferred to the Western Region (Vest) 1986–1995
- Derailment on 27 November 1991 in Odense
- Withdrawn from service in 1995 and stored in Aarhus
- Scrapped in 1999 by Henriksen in Aarhus
