Märklin 37201 Digital
Märklin 37201 Digital
Compressed-air diesel locomotive Class V3201 DRG
Märklin 37201 was produced in 2004 as a limited MHI dealer model, and the model represents the prototype in its DRG period.
The model is a special 'Techno-edition' model; the locomotive features a 5-pole motor with a digital decoder and high-performance drive.
The prototype
- Prototype: V 3201, later V 120 001
- Manufacturer: Maschinenfabrik Esslingen, with MAN involvement
- Built: 1927
- Operator: Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG)
- Type: Diesel locomotive with pneumatic transmission
- Model era: II
- Model number: V 32 01 / No. 2004 on the Märklin version
The locomotive was developed in the 1920s as a powerful diesel locomotive for passenger service on main and branch lines. It was initially designated V 3201 and later, in 1930, became V 120 001.
Interesting detail: The prototype was quite unusual because its diesel engine drove a compressed-air/pneumatic transmission, rather than the hydraulic or electric transmission that became common in later German diesel locomotives.
