DSB Diesel locomotive, MY 1126 ATCS

Overview

The locomotive was part of the iconic NOHAB series, delivered to DSB in 1956-57. Built under license from EMD, these locomotives were designed for both passenger and freight service across Denmark. Known for their reliability and distinctive design, the NOHAB units have become true classics in Scandinavian railway history.

The MY 1126 was painted with graffiti and used for ATCS test runs from 1989 to 1990

History

  • 31 August 1957 – Arrived in Helsingør. Fitted with a mirror-reversed winged wheel on the front.
  • 1957–1978 – Assigned to the Eastern Region.
  • 1974 – Equipped with ITC.
  • 1978 – Painted in the design livery.
  • 1978–1986 – Assigned to the Eastern Region.
  • 1986–1988 – Assigned to the Western Region.
  • 1988 – Painted with graffiti and used for ATCS test runs from 1989 to 1990.
  • 1988–1992 – Assigned to the Eastern Region.
  • 1992 – Returned to regular service.
  • 1992–1996 – Assigned to the Western Region.
  • 8 February–1 March 1994 – Rented to NSB in connection with the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer.
  • 1994 – Environmentally upgraded and named “Nikita,” after the daughter of J. L. Frederiksen, a workshop manager at Cvk Ar.
  • 1995 – Fitted with shunting platforms.
  • 1996 – Equipped with ATC.
  • 1996–1997 – Assigned to the Eastern Region.
  • 9 October 1997 – Transferred to the Western Region.
  • 1997–2000 – Assigned to the Western Region.
  • 2000 – Withdrawn from service.
  • 19 September 2000 – Moved from Aarhus to Gb.
  • 2000–2002 – Stored at Gb.
  • 2002 – Exchanged for MY 1105 and transferred to DJK (the GM Group).
  • 2003–2010 – Based in Padborg.
  • 2008–2024 – In operation.
  • 2010–2022 – Based in Hundested.
