Diesel Locomotive MY1131 Altmark (Former DSB MY1131)  

Overview:
Originally built by NOHAB under an EMD license, MY1131 is a classic diesel locomotive with a rich history. NOHAB's European adaptations of the Australian B Class were widely used across Europe, including in Denmark, Norway, Belgium, and Hungary. Today, many of these locomotives remain in operation on private railways across Europe.

Key Historical Milestones:

• Built and Delivered:
  • Arrived in Helsingør on October 25, 1957.
• Service Period:
  • Operated in Eastern Denmark from 1957–1979.
  • Transferred to Western Denmark from 1987–1997.
    

Incidents: 

• Collided head-on with MY1122 in Roskilde on April 5, 1966, causing significant damage to both units.
  

Renovations and Updates:

• Repainted in 1979.
• Environmentally renovated in 1994 and named "Malene" after the workshop foreman’s daughter.
  

End of Service and Sale:

• Laid aside in 1997 and officially retired on April 28, 1998, in Vejle.
• Sold to Euro-Track in 1999, changing hands multiple times before reaching Altmark Rail in 2018.

Current Status:

• Now operating under Altmark Rail, MY1131 continues to contribute to railway services, embodying a legacy of robust engineering and adaptability.
