Diesel Locomotive MY1139 DSB

Overview

The MY1139 locomotive was part of the NOHAB series, produced under license from EMD starting in 1949. These locomotives were modeled after the Australian B Class but adapted to European standards with a narrower clearance gauge and UIC-compliant features.

NOHAB locomotives served state railways in Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Hungary. Many remain active on private railways across Europe, including in Germany, Sweden, and Kosovo.

History

  • Arrival: Delivered to Helsingør on February 28, 1958.
  • Service: Operated in Western Denmark from 1958 to 1992.
  • Upgrades: Received design livery in 1979.
  • Retirement: Decommissioned in 1992 after an accident in Odense.
  • Storage and Disposal: Stored with Henriksen in Aarhus from 1992 to 2005, scrapped in 2005.
