Prototype history
The Alstom V150 TGV was a specially modified high-speed train developed by Alstom and SNCF to set a new rail-speed record. On 3 April 2007, it reached 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph) on the newly built LGV Est line between Paris and Strasbourg, France.
The train, numbered 4402, was based on TGV technology and consisted of specially adapted power cars and double-deck trailers. Its name, V150, refers to its target speed of 150 metres per second. The record demonstrated the capabilities of French high-speed rail technology and remains one of the most significant achievements in railway history.
