DSB Gods, Electric Locomotive EG 3113

This freight locomotive, which was DSB’s most powerful electric locomotive, was used to haul heavy freight trains, primarily on the Malmö–Copenhagen–Great Belt–Padborg route. It was also used for operations in Germany and was therefore built to operate under two different overhead-line voltages: 25 kV/50 Hz and 15 kV/16⅔ Hz.

The locomotive could haul a 2,000-tonne freight train on level track at 120 km/h and start and pull a 2,000-tonne freight train on a 15.6‰ gradient, such as those found on the Great Belt and Øresund routes. The Class EG was equipped for remote control of either an EA or an EG locomotive, and was fitted with Danish/Swedish ATC as well as the German Indusi train protection system.

In 2001, DSB Gods was sold, and all 13 EG locomotives were transferred to Railion Danmark A/S.
